Got my Samsung 240T and am upgrading my computer. Which video card is best? I'll be doing mostly 2D but I want to be able to game occasionally. I'm guessing an ATI card, but I've been out of the loop for so long, I don't know what's out there....:Q

Hmm, good question. I'd like to stay around $200....but I could always be talked into going higher if the advantages presented to me were considerable....

i honestly can't tell a difference between ati and nvida in 2d renders. maybe some people can.

Ummm that monitor is a 24" widescreen I say his budget is whatever he wants to get..😉

Do you have PCIe or AGP?

Man, you go away for a year or two and you don't know anything....😱

Regarding AGP or PCIe, I don't even know what that is....but I actually don't know which I'll be using. I am looking at uATX boards as I type this. The AOpen board I am looking at (i855GMEm-LFS) takes a Pentium M chip, has AGP and PC2700 (DDR333) RAM, and both ATA100 and SATA.

True about my budget though, I can get whatever I want really, but don't care to waste any money.

Hmm, found another board here....that has PCI-E and supports the LGA775 package, which I have no idea what that means...😱...is that better than the 478 package?

Well a good rig is NEVER a waste of money but since you not a big gamer you don't have to go all out.
Good middle of the road card ATI 9800 very good cards.

If you want the best though I would either get the geForce 6800 ultra or the ati XT800. Neither are cheap though. They are the top of te line cards and will run around 500 each.

Yeah, well considering I have a Radeon 8500LE right now and it is fine for me, an All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro is probably perfect for what I need. Thanks! 😎
