I am having problems with my graphic card and need to urgently get new one.
I need to know:

1. will AGPx8 cards work normaly on older agp slot (gygabite ga 7vr motherboard with amd atlon 1400mhz and 1.2gig of ram, support AGP 4x/2x mode and 2.0 complient)

2.what in your opinion would be the best card for less than £60 or $80 that is agp complient has dual monitor capability and be good at running 3d and video aplication for specificatios above.

I have preferances to geforce as curently I have radeon7000 and makes my system very unstable.

All sugestions will be greately appriciated

All AGP8X cards will run on AGP4X MBs, so that's not a worry.

As for your price range, if you really want to go with GeForce, you're probably looking at the GeForceFX5700 line of cards, though the FX5700 line has not been overly popular.

At the same price point, you should be able to get a Raedon 9600 card, which are fairly popular, but of course it depends if your willing to go with ATI again.

I'd give you some links for the FX5700 and ATI9600, but since you're in England (I presume), I doubt my American links would do you much good.

I'm a GeForce man myself, but at the price point you mention, I think ATI has the edge.
