Just curious. Regarding my 2nd (older) PC which i havent sold for no logical reason.

I thought its video was about to die but everything turned out ok. However it got me thinking....

The card is an Ati 800XT PE which uses x1-4pin Molex on AGP. I was wondering if there are faster AGP cards out there that still use the Molex power connector? (i.e. no 6pin PCI-e connector required)

I dont plan on upgrading since its my backup pc but I'm just curious. I've seen names such as 1950 Pro and 3850 AGP but are these powered of Molex.

Cheers guys.

An AGP card that would have a PCI-E connector is going to come with an adapter. Your X800XT is already pretty fast, but yes the X1950 and HD3850 are faster.

yea just upgrade the ram and use it for old games and browsing, or turn it into a file server or something. thats what im doing with an old rig right now, which is really a good thing to have if your main rig fails in any way.

There are a slew of more recent and faster AGP models such as: 7600GT, X1650XT, 2600XT, 3650, X1950 Pro, 7900GS, 7950GT, X1950XT, and 3850. But while many sport the large 1x4-pin connector it is not even standard on the same model from different manufacturers. Some have the smaller 1x4-pin and some the 2x3-pin. In any case, as said, adapters are available so it is not an issue.

Find a 7600GT AGP (or X1950 Pro even faster) for SM3 if you need SM3 on that particular machine. I not sell all of the parts for $$ =).
