AGP backwards compatibility?

I just upgraded my family's ancient pc with a new motherboard (shuttle mn31n). I was hoping to still be able to use an old ATI All-In-Wonder Pro card (AGP 2x) for video capture. However it does not fit in the AGP 8x slot. There's a little plastic thing going across the slot that doesn't line up with the notch in the card (in fact the 8x slot looks like a backwards 2x slot). Has the AGP spec changed recently and i just wasn't aware of it? I looked at a board with a 4x slot and there was no plastic thing at all. Does anyone know what is going on?

The slots were changed to prevent people from putting 3.3v cards in 1.5v slots (or vice versa). You'll have to get a new card.
