AGP Apperature size

Is a good rule of thumb to set the AGP apperature to half of your PC's RAM?

I have a 9600 pro (128 Meg) and 512Meg of DDR RAM. I set the apperature to 256Meg. Is this OK or should I bump it down to 128?

From what I've read, anything above 128 doesn't really change performance all that much. I believe 64 or 128 is the way to go. There's a good explanation of this here

Look under the graphic subsystem heading in the BIOS optimization guide

I typically use the "typical" rule of thumb, double your graphics card memory. Won't matter much now, but when bigger and better games come out it certainly will.

The proper rule of thumb is to use 64 MB, only going higher if you have problems.

Any other "rule of thumbs" are just relics leftover from the olden days.
