I had mine set to 64MB with my GeForce3, now that I hae a Gainward GeForce4 should I increase this to 128MB? Just wondering how this affects anything.

when i set it to 128MB I noticed a slight increase in overall performance, but not really enough to say do it. I suggest you try it both ways and decide for yourself.

Normal recommendation is 64mb or 128mb,btw I`ve tried 128mb and saw no difference on my PC over 64mb aperture size.

I've never seen a good explanation of why you choose one setting over another. They used to suggest your set it to 1/2 your total memory size but never explained why. BIOS manuals basically never bother to explain the setting and only say "change it if you have problems".

Most people with 256 MB RAM or more use 128 MB for the aperature size and that works fine.

If your 3DM2K1 score seems extremely low in the vertex shader (guy's walking around quickly w/ flashes) test, bump the aperture up to 128. Look for tips on madonion's site for benchmarking. My old GF3 was scoring very low after switching from a GTS. When I bumped the aperture up to 128 my score took off.

Leave it at 64 MB unless you have problems. If you do, try 128 MB.

Ignore any comments about dividing the total system RAM by some number; such comments mean nothing.

Do you guys ever see a site that have
such a technical explanation for that matter?
I tried to look around but found nothing.

Another one

My .02
I think set it up 64-128 is sufficient.
Nowadays Videocard has 64 MB, except
Some GF4 and GF3 by Visiontech I believe.

My understanding is IF the program need more
than 64mb than it will take another 64mb
(if we set it up 128) from system memory.
if we set it up 64 than it will only use the
video card memory.

I set up mine 64, but i'll try to make it 128 and 256
see how it makes difference on 3DM2K1 and Quake
if the score is same then i believe those program
doesn't need more than 64(since my GF3 has 64mb)
