AGP 4X vs. 2X

I have an old AMD Athlon board from gateway supporting AGP up to 2X. Will a 4X Video card work on that bus or will it sputter and die?
 
I think those are both 1.5 v speeds so it should work...

1x is 3.3v
2x,4x are 1.5v
8x is .8v

I might have that wrong though 😱
