Will an AGP 3.0 card

work in an AGP 4x (2.0) slot? If so, I assume there will be a reduction in performance but does anyone know if the card will flat out refuse to work?

Yes it will work in an AGP 4x slot. However i believe the voltage is wrong on 2x and 1x slots so dont try to use it there.

There is virtually no performance decrease, AGP 8x only helps in high end workstation and 3d design and stuff like that.

AGP 8x and AGP 4x are 100% compatible. In fact, the bigger problem is usually that 8x cards will ONLY work at 4x speeds on some motherboards.

In any case, there's ZERO PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AGP4X AND AGP8X..
