AGP 1.0 to AGP 2.0

I just bought an MSI k7tPro 2a and found out that it has an AGP 2.0 slot, can I use my old AGP 1.0 compliant card on this board?

The AGP 2.0 specification is backwards compatible, so the AGP slot on the k7T Pro should be able to take the older 1.0 compliant vid card without any problems.

Yep, you're right... I guess what threw me was that the slot is different. On the AGP 1 there is a divider in the middle of the slot and on AGP 2 there isn't.

I'd like to turn the question around if I may. What does it take to make an AGP 2.0 video card (LeadTek GeForce2MX) run on a AGP 1.0 compliant motherboard (Abit BH-6v1.01)?

I added a LeadTek GeForce2MX AGP to my BH-6v1.01 running W98se. The computer runs (ran) perfectly in all respects. After installing the new video card, the GeForce will not allow the computer to shut down. The monitor goes blank and the monitor light slowly flashs yellow, indicating a sleep, standby or suspend state. The computer keeps running. I have tried numerous drivers from LeadTek and Nvidia. I installed each properly, starting the process by changing the adapter setting to Standard PCI VGA before installing new drivers. Removed old drivers each time. LEadTek support reports that GEForce2 needs AGP2.0 compliance. Careful reading of other current video cards suggest the same. BH6 is only AGP 1.0 compliant although some BH6 users report they can get the newer cards to work. I can't. LeadTek says its a voltage issue. Haven't heard back from ABIT.
Question: HAs anyone (A) encountered this problem AND (B)fixed it.....! If so, how?

Just a possibiltiy, have you checked your settings in bios as to Power Management, and or acpi?

Yes. I turned all power management off. I also used LeadTek's suggestions of disabling Video caching and shadowing in Bios. I am using latest Abit bios. I assigned an unused/unshared IRQ to the card. I detect no hardware conflicts using Device manager and System info. I have disabled antivirus and other unnecessary applications. As soon as I install a GeForce driver, the shut down problem appears. Unload the driver, using the GF2MX card set to Standard PCI VGA, no problems. Obviously, the possibility is my MB simply will not support it. Reportedly some do, some don't. Just want to make sure I try everything before I throw in the towel...... Thanks.
