AGOGA XP1700+

Does anyone have an idea of how much of an overclock I could get here?

I have an XP 1700+ AGOGA stepping Processor - Palamino??? I am always confused how you can tell the difference between Palaminos and Tbreds. The chip itself is green.

Gigabyte Ga-7vtxe+ Mobo (KT266A Chipset)

Coolermaster HHC-001 HSF (the copper one with heatpipes)

Current load temp is 41 C

My memory is just bulk PC2100, Micron & Samsung chips (640MB), but I have active cooling on the chips.

Lian-li PC60 case, tons of case cooling.

Please share your opinions and Ideas!

Thanks!

its a pally if you read teh stepping information on the core
its a tbred if you read the stepping information on a sticker next to the core

but that stepping is a pally im sure

i think those were pre agoia/aroia steppings which were awesoem for xp1600+'s
have a look at the database at www.overclockers.com ...dont forget to look at thier vcore and, if they list it, their cooling

Thanks for the information... I looked on Overclockers.com and the overclocks on the 1700+ AGOGA were pretty good. I don't have a water cooler, but the HSF that I have is a very good one, better than some that were listed on the site for air-cooling.

My dilemma is... I want to unlock my processor, and am up for the challenge but the damn mobo that I got has NO setting for multiplier manipulation. I can only OC through the FSB. I will mess with it and see what kind of stability/temps I can get under the air cooling that I have now.

Anyone suggest a good test program for OC'd machines?

prime95 torture test for atleast 8hrs
memtest86
3dmark 2001

run both windows programs at same time for double the testing🙂

the mobo doesnt allow any adjustments thru jumper/dip switches or anything?

No, in their infinite wisdom (and my infinite oversight), Gigabyte did not put the DIP switches on the model that I have GA-7VTXE+, but they did put them on the GA-7VTXH+. The only option is by the FSB. I need a good OC'ing board. Anyone have ideas on what brand/model is the best for OC'ing Athlon XP's, and doesn't cost a fortune?

it doesnt cost all that much i dont think....but its a good one

I got a free 122MHz o/c out of my AGOGA 1900+ yesterday. Free meaning no voltage bumpies. This was done on an Epox 8K3A+ so I'd have to endorse this as well. Now to unlock my CPU's multipliers.

8Rda+ nforce2 !!!! hmmmm do any of you guys that are unlocking your processors happen to live in nyc? =]
