Aging is depressing

Start doing things that are important NOW. Otherwise, you will have these same thoughts when you are 25, then 26, etc. When you turn 50, you will be amazed at how young 24 is.

Fact :) Sure I concern myself with the possibility, but given I'm 22 right now I figure I have plenty of time to find a way to avoid death altogether, and do so in a youthful state.

Half a century is a long time indeed.

..and not everybody gets to do it. Live long enough and you'll see some friends and family lucky to see mid 40's because of lifestyle choice and accidents. Chinga happens.

see i thought 22 was the perfect age...23 even. now that i'm half a year from 25, well, i guess it's all psychological. whatever.

It's only depressing if you don't feel like you're achieving any goals, in my opinion. If you're working toward something, then aging is only further indication that you're closer to your goals. Sure, we all hate to have the physical effects of aging (most of which you shouldn't be experiencing so young), but you can take them in stride and age gracefully.

I'm also 24, and I have had some similar thoughts. I think it has to do with how impersonal and cold modern life can be at times. We sit here in front of our computers or study 10 hours a day, and not everyone has a ton of friends or family.

I am lucky because I do have lots of friends and family, although my relationships with them are not always perfect. But I think a lot of young people today are looking at the future and are somewhat afraid of what it will be like.
