AGH! Stomach ache.....again

Anyone a medical major here or something? I got a question for ya. I get a stomach ache every time I eat. I can't figure it out. Lunch seems to cause the least, and it makes little difference what I eat. Salad with no dressing is about the only thing guaranteed not to cause pain. I was tested for an ulcer a few months ago, but it came back negative. I've been dealing with this for years.....any tips????

where you mearly tested for an ulcer? or where there other guesses to this ailment? the doctors could give no explanations?

Is it an acidic stomachache? You could try taking some tummy medicine before you eat.

I'd also recommend having some tests done to see what can be done for your tummy. There's got to be some cause. Was it always this way, as long as you can remember?

Just tested for ulcers? Why didn't you just go in to find out what the problem was? That friggen sucks. Sucks even more that you've had to deal with it for years. I say go to the doctor, slap down a stack of bills and say, "fix it."

Whenever I'm at the doctor, I always kinda inquire about it, and they just send me over to get an ulcer test and give me a perscription for super-deluxo tums basically, but it never helps.

But yeah, I've been dealing with it for years, it's got kinda worse the last couple. Other people in my extended family deal with the same thing, so my parents kinda brush it off as genetic or soemthing.

You can have bad stomach acid without having an ulcer. I did, and had to have surgery to repair it.

When you say "stomach ache", what do you mean? Is it an acid ache, or something else?

Next time you're at the doctor, you might want to explain to him/her that you've been tested for ulcers before and it's always come back negative. Would he/she perhaps have any other ideas as to its cause?

I'll second the "Gall Stones" theory..... my wife had a lot of stomach problems... always thought it was ulcers... turns out she had some massive aggregation of gall stones.... she's definetly had wayyy less stomach ache since she had the operation to take em out...

There is a lot of home remedies that you could probably find pretty easily on the web dealing with acids in your stomache.

Have you tried drastically changing your eating habbits? I get upset stomaches every 2 weeks since I changed my diet. They usually happen when I eat something that I havn't eaten in a long time: like soda, greasy hamburgers, etc. Needless to say, I will usually end up in the bathroom.

I thought I read something on the web that Tums / medicine of that nature isn't always the best way to treat stomache acids. I would have to reread this as I didn't pay much attention to it (I wasn't having an acid problem but read it anyways). Basically, unnatural methods of suppresing acids arn't always the best choice because you become dependent on them to supress acids instead of figuring out why there is an overabundance of acid. I think this is how the article went, buuut don't quote me and anyone who knows better feel free to correct me.

So you go to like a medical place? You don't have like a family doctor? You should get a doctor you see often so then he gets to know you; that way, he'll often have a better idea of whats wrong with you.

Ack! It must be Anthrax, it is the work of Terrorists I tell you! 😛

Seriouslly, that stinks, being sick is bad enough, that just blows...

one word... aciphex

i have what you'd call a nervous stomach, and that developed into an ulcer, then a bleeding ulcer... the dr. put me on this for the past 2 months and its great, my appetite is back strong as ever , just gotta watch what you eat. very little fried stuff..etc

good luck with that

Let's see... ulcer, gall bladder, or Hepatitis C... take your pick!

Seriously, though, talk to your doctor. If he/she does nothing but prescribe the same thing over and over, ask for a referral to a specialist.
