Ok, so I buy this psu advertised as "noiseless" (even has a little guy doing the customary "shhh" sign). Guess WHAT? IT SCREAMS LIKE A FVCKING BANSHEE!! Its worse than my three year old machine that I am replacing it with. </rant>

Plug in power cord to psu. Open psu. Use steel screwdriver to unscrew loud fan. Screw in panaflo L1A with steel screwdriver. Winnar!

Some brand called "JustPC" that I got at Fry's (Yea yea people warned me about non brand psus...i didnt listen...)

Even if it didn't make a sound, I bet it would still suck 🙂

well the thing is that I had an antec but it was only 300w surepower (the value brand of truepower with only 15a on 12v) so I had to spring for a cheap 450w.

ok threadjack 😉

do i want a 420w thermaltake for ~$85 or a 330W antec truepower for ~$98 (both AUD)

both W would be quite enough for me atm...

Well that 420w thermaltake probably is a rebadged channelwell cwt-420 that can be purchased with a chieftech case for $60 shipped from newegg.

the truepower has ~22A on the 12v rail...it seems more solid and quality on paper...

I have the Antec truepower 330 and its a quality PSU.

Look at the +12V rail specs on the thermaltake. If its higher then 22 amps (which is what the Antec has) then get that. I'd still get the Antec cause they make quality stuff.

about 3 years ago, i surprisingly bought a 550watt PSU for $12.50. it wasn't advertised as silent or anything. it was the most silent PSU i've ever owned, and i still use it without even realizing that it's running. 🙂

i'll go with the antec (only 18A for the thermaltake) i think 🙂

lol, the cheap PSU in my sister's PC is 500Watts (that I bought for $20 I think). Looking at the specs on the side it only had 10A on the 12V rail, and was feather light. It was quiet though. 😛
