You can't use Verizon unless you are a Verizon customer.

Just look on your ISPs home page for your news server.

It doesn't explain
Somewhere on their website it should tell you the name of the news server. It'll probably be buried deep in the website, because ISP's by and large do not give a sh!t about newsgroup service to their customers.

If you're looking to use this as a way to acquire, ahem, large quantities of binaries, you will most likely be sorely disappointed by your ISP's level of service. Although Verizon could be an exception to the rule, I don't really know.

Verizon on posting to newsgroups
Newsgroup Posting Policy

It is a violation of Verizon policy to add messages to newsgroups 1) that are clearly inappropriate given the intended purpose or scope of the newsgroup, including adding commercial postings to newsgroups of a non-commercial nature, or 2) in a manner that is clearly excessive and intended to annoy or harass. Subscribers that Verizon determines to be in violation of this policy shall be subject to immediate termination of service without prior notice, or immediate suspension of service without prior notice pending results of an investigation.

Whoever provides your internet connection will have a news server. Just ask them what it is.
