According to the news, the pilots and flight attendants only found out about this midflight. They kept the passengers in their seats and tried their best to keep the situation calm. The flight was apparently full and according to the news, the stowaway extra passenger was only caught due to the stowaway unusual activity of moving from one bathroom to another thru out the entire flight. TSA is claiming that this was a major security breach and are currently investigating how this happened.

Someone really wanted to leave. Maybe someone looking for a free trip. Maybe someone getting out of somewhere undetected. First seems more likely, especially with how bold people have become with fulfilling their wants. Someone will write the book.

Closest I’ve seen to that was on a flight from Madrid to London.

British Airways managed to book 2 women with the exact same name into the same seat. They put the second Jane Doe in one of the jump seats and left the gate before realizing one of the women hadn’t officially cleared customs because one didn’t have a seat.

So we sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes waiting for them to work out whether we could fly to the UK or would have to have one of the women deplane in Madrid.

Eventually we took off with everyone on board and we would have missed our connecting flight home if it hadn’t been delayed.
