Age old question: Mixing card manufacturers

Lonyo

Lifer
I want to use a second card for extra monitor support, but how easy is it to get nVidia and ATi drivers to play nice on the same system to allow a 7800GT as the main card, and then some PCI ATi card as a card just to do 2D/power extra monitors?

(And yes, I do want a PCI card only, so I can use it as a backup card for other systems if their card ever breaks, or possibly as a low power alternative to my current 9800 in my second system, so a second PCIe card is NOT an option).

No it wont work. See nVidia has a hidden chip disabler for when Ati products/chipsets are used.
When it detects an Ati product in your machine it will overclock itself until it artifacts and dies.

NO Warranty covers this kind of damage, not even e-vga.

Yes it will work.
