Would a 20" widescreen 2005FPW or 19" P95f+ CRT be better for gaming?

IMO, the LCD seems to have more clear, crisp, quality picture using DVI versus the analog CRT.

At work, I've got a 2005FW alongside a really good 19" CRT - no match. The LCD is so far superior in contrast, detail sharpness and geometry that I do most things on the LCD alone.

Image height is exactly the same btw.

For gaming and movies CRT hands down , for text and office work = LCD.

I thtought you meant 19" LCD vs 20" Widescreen...

I vote for the 2005 then even though its a PIECE OF SH!T. If you said 19" LCD vs 20" LCD I would've picked 19" hands down

if you game for money, or are involved in serious FPS tournaments, then go with a CRT or if you've tested X LCD and ghosting doesn't bother you, or you don't notice it, then I'd still go with the tried and true CRT for really serious FPS gaming where you want any possible advantage you can get, otherwise get an LCD and force it to 75hz (if manual says its ok) for gaming.

also note that LCDs use less electricity (my 1905fp (dell) states 32 watts without the soundbar and usb). this can really add up if you have the monitor running a lot.

Nearly anyone I know (I host LanParties) uses an LCD now. Be it FPS or MMO, does not matter. Ghosting on a good LCD is a thing of the past. I had to check the date on this discussion since I seemed about 2-3 years old. LOL. LCD all the way, no doubt!

Blanket statements either way are just wrong. There are vast differences to be found between different makes and models of CRTs and LCDs. Some CRTs look like blurry crap with horrible convergence at the corners. Some LCDs have bad ghosting/blurring and/or banding. Some CRTs have great convergence/sharpness/picture quality. Some LCDs have great response times and steady color representation. The new NEC LCDs seem to be legitimate high-end CRT beaters.

I know someone that has a Sony FW900 CRT and the new NEC 20WMGX2 LCD but still prefers the FW900 for gaming and movies. He says the LCD is more vibrant and colorful but its overdone and "Fake" instead of the natural look on a CRT (which is why I've always thought movies looked bad on LCDs,other than the poor black levels) , He also says even tho motion blur is minimal on the LCD it still doesnt feel as responsive or smooth when playing FPS games...then theres the fact most LCDs are capped at 60hz which means running without Vsync isnt really an option (unless you dont mind screen tearing).

I plan on getting one of these NECs soon before giving final judgement tho,Ive got plenty of desk space so figured what the heck (dual monitor).. I tried an LCD awhile back (Dell 2001FP) but my CRT beat it to death in gaming & movie performance.

@Karsten: exactly, its fine for them, but one may want to use a CRT he if desires any and all possible advantages.
I don't, but if I were in it for something I wanted, then a high quality CRT it would be.
