So is Age Of Wonders a good game ? The Trilogy set on STEAM is $20.

And I am having AOM, AOE strategy withdrawl.

Is Age Of Wonders worth the price ?

AOW - $6
AOW2 Wizard's throne - $10
AOW Shadow Magic - $10

Although, if you want all three, then Steam is the better deal.
 
Ya, they're good games. I'm inclined to think that at this point only Shadow Magic is worth getting, though. I think it has some mods and community patches.

The games are kind of a MoM / HoMM hybrid.
 
They are rather easy to get addicted too, my friends and I would get stuck playing AoW all the time.
Just watch out for the damn Yeti in the woods.
 
I remember liking the original back when it first came out, then being disappointed by the sequels. I'm not sure if you'd like it in 2010 though.
 
AoW was fun but so long that I kept fizzling out halfway through (but that happens on lots of games for me).
 
I'm a fan of GOG and was thinking of giving the AOW series a try. I've not played any of the games in the series nor much fantasy strategy games.

If you had to pick one game in the series to play, what would you recommend? From what I've read, the general consensus is Shadow Magic.
 
I'd say they're quite good. I like the graphics too, as Shadow magic is right at the end of the 2D era, so it has some very high quality and smoothly animated sprites which can look better than a lot of 3D IMO.

I thought that AoW was way, way, way too hard. Also the gfx were very dated/ugly even when the game came out.. It may be a good game but I just couldnt get into it. May be purely for die hard turn based fans with a lots of free time.
 
I have the first 2. Loved the first one. Played it for a long, long time. Also played lan games with a couple friends. Those games would take fo-ev-er. Still, was alot of fun.

Didn't get much into the second one, for whatever reason.
