Please forgive me for posting in two forums. But i desperatley need help. :-(
I start Age Of Mythology (AOM) and the video intro plays fine and there is sound. Then when the video intro of all the guys battling is over: the screen goes blank and all you can hear is sound.
I have a Nvidia GeForce4 MMX 440. Windows XP. 1GB RAM. Pentium 4 2.8GHZ. Aopen AX4SPE-N MOBO.
I've spent hours on the phone to Microsoft trying to find a solution so the game will work. But it still wont. Basically i was told the drivers for the Nvidia Card i own dont work properly with XP.
Here is what i have done:
-Installed the very latested Windows XP updates. SP2 and everything else.
-Installed a 2003 Nvidia driver, and now latest Nvidia Video Card Driver. Neither one fixed it.
-Made sure every driver for my Mobo and Chipset was up to date.
-Installed windows 98 to test whether it would work. It does. Which points to their being a problem with the driver and XP operating system... since it works fine on 98.
-Ran AOM in a safe mode using basic windows video drivers. It works fine. Proving that the game works and my system works... but that their is a conflict with XP and nividia drivers.
-Followed the step-by-step instructions at the microsoft website which is supposed to fix this problem here: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=814546
Does anyone know what i should do? Besides turning to the last option i can think of which is to buy a new video card (maybe and ATI video card since Nvidia sux!
It is so weird since the intial intro video works fine and then the screen goes blank where the game menu should be???
