Age of Empires Lockup

I bought Age of Empires collector addition. Every time I play AOE1 it it locks up my PC and I have to restart it. It happens randomly it seems, it can be as soon as I get the menu or after an hour of gameplay. The water seems messed up as well.

I haven't tried the other games in the box yet (AOE2 + expansion) yet.

Have you tried XP compatibility mode?

I have to kill explorer.exe to get AOE to run on Windows 7. That will take care of the funky display of colors at least...not sure about your crashing issues.

It always blue screens for me in Vista 64, exact same game works fine when played on a xp system

Maybe you aren't meeting the system specs. Try upgrading to 64mb of ram.

LOL, yeah, I bought a whole new system just for this game.

I tried XP compatibility and nuking explorer, but it still locks up.

EDIT: Will using XP mode work? Can you play older games in XP mode?

Didn't fix my issue...still blue screens...i'll play for about 10 min and blue screen....
