age of empires III mouse flicker

is anybody else having this problem? i have an ati mobility radeon 9000

i had the same problem for age of mythology, and it turned out i had to edit a .gfx file for my graphics card in the game's program files directory so that it used a win32 cursor instead of a d3d cursor. but i don't know how to do this, or if this will fix it with aoe iii...
