Age of empires 2 problem with 7900 gtx

I have a laptop with a 7900 gtx go.

When I play age of empires to I it seems fine for a while then I start to get graphical distortion while playing, it did not even take very long. It will go away sometimes but then come back and sometimes it sticks for good and will not leave the screen, is this because it's an older game with a newer video card? Do you suspect a video card problem? It does not happen in newer games nearly as much.
 
like artifacting? (white spots start to appear all over) if it does that sounds like a heat issue, try using a cooling pad while playing
