The game is Age of Empires 2: The Conquerer's Expansion

My brother and I have always been able to play together on our 2 separate PCs inside our house LAN. One day while we were playing the power went out, and since then we can see each other's game but you're unable to join the game.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled and no go.

The overall windows network is fine - we both have a presence on the network and can do all other TCP/IP related things - and like I said, we can even see each other within the AOE game, but when it comes to joining a game its a no go.

Anyone ever run into this problem

Stupid question really but you've not installed any firewall software have you? Have you checked that the built-in WinXP firewall is disabled on your network connection.

I don't have any 3rd party firewall software installed. Haven't checked the status of the Win XP built-in firewall, but don't see why that would be the problem since it worked fine before we had the power go out during the middle of a game. FYI, the power went out while we were in the middle of a game

Did you reinstall all the patches? You need to have the lat one in there to be able to play on 2000/XP
