Again with the clogged ear

I picked up a bottle of Hydrogen perioxide on the way home from work this evening, to attempt to unclog my ear. Said ear has been clogged since the friday of Thanksgiving weekend, resulting in muffled sound. Previous treatments were a swimmer's ear medicene and an ear wax removal kit. Neither of which did anything to help.

The last thread I posted about it had a consensus of trying H2O2. Which I bought on the way home from work tonight.

After putting in slightly too much H2O2 and dabbing what what dribbled down my cheek, I immediately felt it begin to tingle and 'buzz' in my ear. After several seconds, it began to itch, and progress to an uncomfortable itching. I used a paper towel and tilted my head in the other direction and dabbed up the H2O2 as it came out. Then, using the paper towel, I dabbed as far inside the ear as I could. (I really should have grabbed some cue tips too.) The paper towel came away with the orange coloration of ear wax, with a slight tint of red. (blood?) And there is a still a mild itching sensation now, about 10 minutes later. However, the ear still has muffled sound and feels clogged. I can also feel the moisture from the H2O2 inside. At least the coloration on the paper towel was more than I got with the swimmer's ear stuff and ear wax removal kit.

Think I should attempt it again after some time has passed? It wasn't a painful sensation, just uncomfortable.

it might be worth going to a doctor. you may have blockage inside your ear or eustachian tube. they can put tubes in there i think to release it, or maybe you need a decongestant like sudafed.

Nuts. I'll give them a call tomorrow, see if I can't get a 0700 appointment on Thursday.

Just go to the doctor, they will use a squirting needle to flush that crap out of your ear.

If you are lucky, they will get it all out before you wind up with an inner ear infection.

And FYI, dont stick Q-tips in your ears. All that does is force the ear wax further down in where it cant work its way out naturally.

most likely a bacterial infection if it's been present since thanksgiving. my left ear was clogged about a month ago and i just got some antibiotics from my boss (former physician) and it cleared up in a week. and blood is definitely not supposed to come out of your ear. stop sticking stuff in there.

What is an ear doctor called?

Edit - Never mind, they simply call it an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor, or ENT.

You really dont need a specialist, almost and GP can help you. Even those quick care clinics can help you out.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to go to the hospital for this. Its always such a pain to get an appointment for minor things, we've got a lot of retiree's at this base using the hospital. Not that I'm dissing the retiree's, they put their time in serving their country just as much as anyone else in the uniformed services, but the facilities here just don't seem equipped to meet all the demand.
