AG Barr continues to cover for Donald Trump instead of doing his job.

Graham just threw a lifeline there vs Blumenthal.

Blumenthal was getting ready to back him into a pretty small corner over the notes regarding the Mueller call.

*GRAHAM* OH SHIT MY BOY GONNA DROWN HERE!
**Gavel** meeting adjourned!

They were fine with this exact answer, many times, from ~1985-1988. OK, only some Americans were and remain fine with this kind of answer: The treasonous ratbastard quisling types.

Agreed..The American public was fine with it 30 years ago and frankly, things have been tilting in that direction more not less ever since. I like to calll them the "mealy - mouthed middle".

I think Blumenthal was about to rip him a new face hole over that little display.

Well that ended well! Aside from the last Republican doing his best bout licking I found it pretty amazing that Barr was essentially trying to relegate Mueller as just some "snitty" has been and then refused to hand over a conversation Mueller and Barr had with multiple witnesses.

Just got in the car and I noticed that.

Followed by Graham saying I’ll write Mueller a letter and ask if he disagrees with anything you said regarding the meetings.

Another awesome piece of circular reasoning by Barr was his response to being interviewed by the an investigator. Basically the president can stop the questioning anytime he thinks the questioning is going into politically motivated territory. So what's to stop the president for declaring any question as being politically motivated?

Graham said he wouldn’t have Mueller testify, as far as he’s concerned it’s over.

Graham is just pathetically attempting to impress Trump. It doesn't matter if Barr wants to 'let' Mueller testify, Congress could easily force him to.

Thank God the Dems took the House, at least.

Yes, hearings like this should show everyone how vitally important it was that the Democrats took the House in 2018. If they hadn't, Republicans would never have called Mueller to testify at all and we would simply be left with Barr's lies.

Haha

Listening to the news, reporter asks what should Barr do to prepare for tomorrow in the House?

Advice: be more honest

or

resign before the hearing.

I think the bottom line is that since Mueller punted on any decision to indict and left it to another entity, we are simply screwed. Keep in mind that Mueller is still a republican with a career that he likely doesn't want tarnished. Even though he was a marine and is honestly a good guy, by not stepping up, he let America down, unless you're a knuckle dragging Trump fan anyway.

Even though Barr lied today under oath, nothing will come of it. Whether the House has the fortitude to do anything other than bluster I'd be surprised, I don't see anything coming out of that body either even if Mueller testifies to be honest.

I can't help but think how unprepared the Democratic senators appeared today. I mean Barr testified he didn't read anything except Mueller's summaries, which he supposedly based his decisions off of. Barr used Mueller's lack of action to help justify his lack of action, and how can you argue that since Mueller is a hard working thorough investigator, that Barr could come up with anything different himself?

Are you aware of the basis for muellers non decision?

I really don’t know at this point how any decent person can look at these republicans and not see them for the absolute scumbags that they are.

I'm sure this DOJ can't wait to prosecute. /s

They don't have to. Remember the lawful process if citing contempt and arrest for 12 months. I don't know if they'll go after Barr (they should) but at least get those who fail to comply with the House hauled in, no DOJ needed.

Whoever this is is good, backed Barr into a corner. He admitted he didn't look at the underlying evidence in the report, citing the report itself as the evidence, despite the fact that he and the dept AG are the individuals responsible for clearing or indicting. Making a decision on this without looking at the evidence? No bueno.

It's deeper than that. If the DoJ can't indict a sitting President then they have no decision to make. The DoJ must, therefore, provide Congress with all the evidence & testimony so that they can decide how to proceed.

Barr is not going to show for the House hearing tomorrow. Given his performance in the Senate I suppose that was to be expected.

Now House Judiciary will have to make some decisions about what to do.

Edit: Seems they're already moving to subpoena him.

Yep, he did it. Subpoena, cite for contempt and arrest in the authority of Congress if necessary. Barr and Trump have created a Constitutional crisis that must not stand.

Apparently in the same letter saying he won't show tomorrow Barr says that he's defying the subpoena for the unredacted Mueller report.

Nadler moving to hold Barr in contempt.

Situation seems to rather rapidly escalating.

CNN said it right.
Barr takes a simple yes or no question and cuts it up into segments where Barr can deflect the simply question and turn it into confusion and non importance. THEN answers only what Barr wants and as he wants.
Makes one feel like going out and breaking the law, then hiring Barr to represent them.
No wonder Trump was so irritated with Jeff Sessions. No doubt Trump is kicking himself for not first having Barr instead of Sessions.
They are all so crooked.
Trump sure knows where to find the scum for his administration. Trump knows every swamp hole, every shit hole where these guys hang out. And Trump hires them.

I haven't seen anything saying they'll subpoena him. Do you have a link? I know they've move to subpoena the un-redacted Mueller report but not Barr himself.

PS...
its time for democrats to take control.
Looking at the house you have to wonder who is the boss here?
Democrats won the election but seems Trump is still calling the shots.
Jail time? Damn straight.
If these Trump a-holes think they can ignore checks and balances they should be sent straight to jail.
Come-on democrats. You have the power, now use it!
You think republicans would let Obama get away with this crap? Or Hillary?
