it was not so bad here, but it was still nasty.

My Aunt lives in Smith Falls Ontario and was trapped in her cottage for 4 days with no water and no electricity. Even her 4x4 Jeep couldn't get her out of there.

I also remember the Military confiscating all the generators around Ontario to help provide electricity to those without it. I also remember a town using a locomotive to provide electricity.

cool man :) as my profile says: north yarmouth, here.

getting a week+ off from school was pretty sweet, though making up all those days + the other snow days was not fun at all.

Earlier this weekend, I took a school trip up into the area in NY that had been affected. I wished I had more time to run around taking pictures. The trees looked incredible at night with the light from buildings and streetlights twinkling off them. Then yesterday, it looked even more amazing with the sunshine reflecting off all the ice on the trees. I only had time to take 2 or 3 pictures out of the window of the van I was driving though. :(

Yep. This storm was so bad in my town that nearly 75% of people are still without power.

10 years and they're still without power?

Well, when the only thing that can get through that weather is a tank, and you only have one of them, it can take a while.

I'm reading this story on cnn about a guy who spent all of his savings to buy a generator to keep his house warm and his pipes from freezing. Just goes to show you that if you're stuck in an area like this it might be worth preparing for the worst.
