The wife and I finally got rid of the futon. :D We went to Rooms To Go and got a sleeper sofa.

Why I thought this sleeper sofa would be any different than any other, I don't know.

Is it the frame of the sofa? Nope. Take the mattress and throw it on the floor and you can still feel every spring. :(

Is there such a thing as a quality aftermarket mattress for an exisiting sleeper sofa? I Googled it and didn't come up with much. A Tempurpedic would be nice, but apparently no dice. Sleep Number has one that you inflate after you unfold it from the couch, but you have to get the whole couch. :(

There are tons of places that sell the tempurpedic material (at something like 1/5 the cost) on the internet and e-bay and such. You can have a piece cut to your specs. Then maybe a comforter duvet cover ftw. There is a HUGE thread about it here on AT somewhere.

Then I must suck at searching... because for a sleeper sofa (that really thin 3 to 4" mattress) I haven't found anything. :(

Found the AnandTech thread. You can get lost in there, be sure to leave a trail of bread crumbs so you can find your way back out again.

Have a life and don't want to spend hours and hours on this decision? Here is one link with a decent review.

Thanks Perk... Although I don't think a "topper" is going to work well for me because it will prevent the sofa from folding up.

I'll go through the links in that thread though, and see if any of those companies make a replacement sleeper sofa matress.

Thanks again!

It's foam, it compresses quite easily, it "should" fold up fairly well. Good luck. I used to LOVE your customer rants! :p
