Aftermarket HSF and Retail CPU Warranty

New retail box P4 3.2E. Assume no overclocking. Am I forced to use the stock HSF to maintain the 3 year warranty? The warranty does not specifically mention aftermarket HSF use (it is wonderfully vague).

This processor runs hot even at stock speeds, and I'd prefer to use the Thermaltake. However I want to balance that with the loss of warranty protection.

Your thoughts?

Normaly, as soon as you replace the stock standard cooling .. you can kiss your warranty good bye, even more so and this is interesting, the heatsinks and cpus (in retail box sets) have matching numbers to eachother, even if you send back (god forbid) a dead cpu and a stock standard heatsink (but not the one that came bundled with that particula cpu), then you would have also voided the warranty....
At least that is what i have been informed of...You might like to look into it further though.

Those warranties are a joke. If the CPU core is covered with a heat spreader you don't need a warranty.
