aftermarket FM antenna cable for receiver?

just got my first home audio receiver with a tuner...anyone know if I can buy a really good aftermarket antenna wire for it? Or is there even a point - are they all about the same?

All antennas are not the same.
Do you have a TV antenna mounted outside?
There are splitter / dividers that allow the FM band to be converted to the correct impedance. Get one and connect with the correct 300 ohm wire. (The flat stuff )

If you don't have a proper antenna to hook it up to, it will do you litttle good. Your cable company also needs to support FM broadcasts. If not, look at some of the FM antenna/amplifier combos from Terk. They work quite well. I picked up a clearance Terk antenna from Circuit City a few weeks back. The antenna was being cleared out to make room for the newer models. The former price for this antenna was $49.00. I paid $3.50. Yes, $3.50 for a fine Terk FM antenna that works very, very well. 🙂

nope, just RF cable TV. This receiver is just going to be in a room. The stock wire sounds alright, but it will probably get heavy radio usage so I want to make sure I have the best reception possible without going to something like a roof-mounted system or something really expensive.

It's not a major issue, it sounds okay now.
