Aftermarket floppies on a Dell Dim 4600

Can you pop a normal floppy in there, or do you need to get a dell-made one?

You can use regular ones AFAIK. Doesn't make sense for them to have proprietary floppies.

Color me crazy, but I'm under the assumption that 99.9% of the floppy drives out there are basically the same they've been for the past 15 years 😉 If that's the case, I'd further assume you could replace the floppy drive just fine. I can't see Dell making some proprietary floppy drive.

Pop in any old floppy drive. Dell works on the same standards as anyone else.

and the only floppy disks dell sells are tdks, so no.

Well, first off....

What I meant was that the case might have some special faceplate or something where a "normal" floppy wouldn't work/fit. That's all. IT's not like there's just a rectangle that you can pop out...there's a "bezel" or whatever that is.

So, if I can get one for $9, I won't spend the $20 that dell wants.
