Aftermarket cooling for 7600GT

What I'm looking for is an aftermarket cooler for my EVGA 7600GT. There are a few brands to look at like Zalman, Arctic Cooling, etc. but I'm unsure as to which will fit properly. My main criteria is that it installs without any modification. Secondary to that is the cooling performance. I am not loyal to any brand, just results. In the winter my temps are alright but in the summer I easily get to 70ºC under load. I'm hoping to knock it down to around 60º. Thanks for any advice.

im pretty sure this will work. But it might block out your rear 120mm exhaust depending on mobo.

This will definitely work. And does a great job.

This is probably your best bet at the lowest temps. However it only fits the PCI-E version

I really wanted to try this out on my HTPC which is done entirely passive. I dont know if it will give you the best temps, but it looks very promising. You maybe able to mod a fan ontop, or just drop one on top for better cooling.

Per the TR V-1 Ultra, it's a good cooler, but the case needs to be wide enough or the heatpipes can bump into the side-panel when you reinstall it.

The VF-900 or VF-900 (and/or) Fatal1ty Zalman is most likely to fit as Aigo said. It's just no good for my 7600 GT AGP LeadTek card, so I'm stuck with the TR cooler -- or an option I'm going to present below.

That third option is also promising, but so is this:

Sytrin VF1

As far as cooling performance, and my kloodgy extruded side-panel window grommet which I want to replace with a more "professional" look, I'm "going back" to the Sytrin.

Keep in mind that my LeadTek 7600 GT (AGP) seems to be an anomaly for where the mounting holes are located, and a PCI-E card for that model and various other nVidia GPUs are mostly all on the compatibility lists for everything heretofore linked in this thread.

I'm still moving forward on revising the heatsink sticky. I should check my Notepad drafts to see if there is a review for the Accelero S2. If you know of any other illuminating reviews on this item, please let me know.

Yep, this is ALWAYS a problem with 7600GTs...

It all depends on the design of your card!

CHECK THIS OUT - I copy n' pasted a couple of pics...

I recently bought a 7600GT (top). I wanted something small with black PCB. It actually uses a 6600GT reference fan.

I assume your card looks something like the one on the bottom. This is obviously a totally different design!

Looking for an after-market cooler for a 7600GT is always problematic...

Happy hunting! :D

I used a Zalman VF-700 on an AGP 6600GT without a problem. The 6600GT and 7600GT have almost identical board designs.

Um..

Once again, it all depends on the design!

CHECK OUT THEIR BACKSIDES - in particular, the HSF screw locations...

7600GT coolers ar NOT one-size-fits-all! ;)
Try to actually look at that picture. The top card is an AGP model, which is physically the same as my 6600GT, which the VF-700 fits on. Do I really have to mount the cooler on the card and post a pic for you?

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I'll have to take some measurements and base my decision on what will fit since they all are about the same block with heatpipes design, aside from the VF-900.

I'm reviving this thread because I'm still looking for a cooler. I have it narrowed down to 3 possible choices which should fit my 7600GT. Now the question is which one.

1) Zalman VF900 - Likely the one I will end up going with. Good cooling, not overly huge

2) Zalman VF700 - Little brother to VF900. Cools well but not as good as VF900, cheapest of the 3

3) ZEROtherm GX815 - Haven't heard anything about this cooler before. Decent reviews on newegg, fits 7600GT, not huge, thermal sensing speed control

Anyone used/use the ZEROtherm? Is the price difference between the VF700 and VF900 worth it? There's just too damn many choices out there it's hard to pick one.
