Aftermarket AC power adapters ok to use?

I have a toshiba laptop and I need a new AC power adapter. Is it ok to use aftermarket brand parts or should i stick with toshiba made power adapters? Thanks

You should be fine as long as Voltage and Current ratings match. The current of the aftermarket adaptor may exceed the original, tht's fine, but make sure that Voltage matches.

You also need to make sure that the plug will fit. There are lots of different proprietary laptop power connectors, some of which look very similar.

As AnyMal said, voltage must match exactly, and current (or power) must match or exceed the original PSU.

I haven't seen any that damaged the laptop. I have had quite a few customers come in that had bad aftermarket AC adapters (they were all the really slim Targus ones). I am not sure I care for the auto-ranging ones, as I am never quite sure what they are putting out voltage wise. Ebay seems to have the Toshiba one's for a pretty good price. As mentioned above, make sure you get one with the right voltage with the same or more amps than what your unit requires.
