After you first got married, did you guys carry your new wife into your home?

I've seen that on TV shows. The groom is supposed to carry the bride through the doorway into their new home. Here's an unofficial poll:

1) Yes, I carried my new bride into our new home.

2) No, but to save face I said the following: "Ummm, honey, you know I have a bad back and well,... you have put on a few pounds since we first started dating..." and then I slapped her on the butt to drive the point home.

3) I tried to lift her up but collapsed on the ground in pain from back spasms. I made a big scene out of it too -- they didn't call me the drama queen in high school for nothing.

4) Yes, I carried my new bride into our new home but clunked her head on the door frame.

I tried voting but I couldn't find the poll.

I did not carry her in. but not for your listed reasons.

She's already been living there for a while. Sides, how could I carry her while she's holding all of my bags? :D

Not married but it really wouldn't bother me if he didn't. I have a couple of guy friends who like to prove that I'm light by picking me up and throwing me to each other. Consequently, I've developed a bit of a reluctance to be picked up.

They're just trying to dispaly their manliness to you.

considering the geek factor of these forums, most probably didn't for fear of breaking their scrawny little arms :p

that and they did want their pocket protectors to fall out.

Whoever I marry will probably be able to carry me into the house instead - there's not exactly a whole lot of me to lift, though I probably would be able to carry her anyway.

I carried her into the Hotel room. Didn't have an apartment until 2 months after marriage. Didn't get a house until 17 years of marriage.

Yes, I carried her over the threshold. 21 years ago. I felt that it was the romantic / traditional thing to do. Still think that, too.

gee.. it's been a long time.. 24 years next month.. but I'm sure my husband didn't carry me through the doorway, anywhere.. I woulda been embarrassed to death and probably woulda slugged him if he'd tried. heh.

he probably remembers differently.. that happens more and more, older we get.. but.. if he remembers that he did, he'll probably remember I slugged him too!

No. But before and after our marriage I still frequently carry her around places. :D

I couldn't carry her because

1. The day after the wedding we took a bus to New York City and got on board a cruise ship and sailed out to Bermuda. So no carrying there.
2. When we got home that night and after the honeymoon, I couldn't carry her because we lived in a 3rd floor apartment.
3. I decided to break tradition and let my wife carry me up the stairs. j/k
