After XP boots it takes 2 minutes for it to find drives! Why?

Everytime I do a restart in WinXP Pro and it comes back up to the desktop, and I open up "my computer" the little flashlight thing pops up and it takes like two minutes to find everything in there, my hard drive, cd drives, ect. Does anybody know why it does this, and how I can fix it? Thanks
 
not sure if this is why. But I gave my friend a cheapo dvd-rom and it took his computer 3 minutes to boot with winxp. After putting in a Lite-on dvdrom in would be in under 30 seconds. AMD 1600, 512MB crucial, 40GB, etc.
 
I had this problem after installing updated drivers for SB Live! Since using nothing but the XP basic install drivers for SB Live! it hasnt seen this problem. You might see improvement using Bootvis otherwise.
