after windows update windows media player problem, help !

after doing a windows update yesterday , when i try and play avi files on my windows media player 8 i get only audio and no video, before the update i got both anyone know how to fix this?

You didn't download the beta ver of Media player by any chance, I know it was on the update site last time I went there as I downloaded it, I had problems with it so I got rid of it, just a thought.
