After watching the Extreme Makeovers show, have you considered any form of plastic surgery??

Not really... but all the more power to people that want to get them. I don't think i'm perfect, just not too sure what would need to be done.

But i love the show... i love seeing these people who are depressed, insecured, and lonely, get makeovers that change their entire life for the better. I'll like to find the episodes and download them, since i always miss them on TV.

I've considered the severe case of Narcissism our society in general seems to accept as the norm.

How sad they must be to hate themselves enough to consider surgical acceptance.

I am considering a rhinoplasty. Checked a local doctors office. Woud run about $5,000.00:lips:

Stolen from Seinfeld: "Can't we think of a better word for a nose job than Rhinoplasty? I mean the person obviously realizes they have a problem and are looking into the getting their nose fixed, but do we have to insult them even more by comparing them to a god damn rhinoceros?". And no I won't be getting anything done.

The need for social acceptance has nothing to do with narcissism. People try to better themselves everyday... some workout, some cut their calories, some dye their hair, others put on makeup, others buy nice cars, others learn how to talk suave, etc etc. It's just that some things, like being born with abnormally large lips, or getting extreme wrinkles beyond their age, require other methods to enhance other than what they can do themselves.

I'd rather live in a society where everybody has a need for social acceptance rather than a society where the attitude is 'i don't give a fvck what others do... i'll do whatever i want'.

I would get lipo in a heart beat! I guess it's not major surgery...but still! Unfortunately don't have an extra 2000+ to do it!🙁

'i don't give a fvck what others do... i'll do whatever i want'

And our society doesnt do/think that way now?

What I'm talking about here, is that its easier for people today, to take two or three hours time to goto the local plastic surgeon and have themselves cut, sucked, tucked or tightened physically rather than take the time to learn to accept themselves for who they are.

Its the quick fix for society today.

So? It would be better if people were more socially aware of their behavior. We would have less crime, since people wouldn't want to be stigmatize with that label. We would have less drug users, because who would really want everybody to look down on them as a junkie? Society can definitely be better.

And where do you think that money comes from? $4k for nose surgery comes from LOTS of hours of work. Is there a difference if he has to work 200 hours to pay for that surgery, or 200 hours of some sort of exercise he could do for that same effect?

In a heartbeat.
I have considered it and want to eventually get it done: nose job and breast implants
Now.... only if i had 25k lying around🙁 (too bad the "givemebreasts.com" or whatever is already used)

So...you'd rather live in a society where people obsess over their looks, as opposed to one where people rely on other means to judge one another, such as personality?

Here is what I don't understand about those before and after pics. In the before pics, the people have no make up, no gel/hair spray or even good clothes on. Yet in the after pics, they probably got a professional to do hair, makeup and dress just before the pics were taken. I am sure if makeup and hair were done in the before pics, they would look nicer then they do.

Did you completely miss the point to what i wrote? No, social acceptance comes in MANY form... one of which is how we look. You can lie to yourself and believe that looks has absolutely no bearing on how we interact with the world, and how the world interact with us... but i'm realistic, and realize that looks does play a major role in our life.

Um, have you seen the guys makeover? They don't wear obscene amount of makeup, and you can certainly tell the difference. Makeup can only do so much... it won't reduce the size of a nose or lips... it won't straighten crooked teeths... it won't enlarge breasts or remove wrinkles.

ActPrincess...you don't need implants! I saw your bikini pic. you're just perfect! Take it from someone who was "blessed" and I use the term loosely, that they are way more trouble than they're worth! You are more than the sum of your cup size!🙂

If looks did'nt mean anything...God would'nt have given us eyes!

Does anyone one know the side effects of getting such things done. What are the side effects of getting a nose job or getting your lips done?
