After watching Avatar, gaming in 3D could potentially be really cool.

I still think it's a gimmick and completely unnecessary. 3D is a waste of time and money.

I'm going to butcher the quote most likely, but as Henry Ford said, 'If I'd have given people what they wanted, I would have given them a faster horse.'

Your statement has been leveled at many an innovation. And quite a few turkeys as well, I grant.....

3D would be cool, but it needs a dramatic shift in implementation before it really can shine (holographic display?). Honestly, the current implementation is nothing but glorified stereo-scope from 1900's. I tried 3D with UP and that gave me massive amounts of headache, the same ole problem unresolved. If 3D does stick around, I hope they figure out a way to take away the side-effect.

Disagree. I thought the 3D was completely unneccessary in Avatar and I have no desire to see it in more movies, let alone in games.

I'd rather they focus on making interesting games and lay off the gimmicks.

I spent the weekend playing various games in 3D on IZ3D monitors.

I didn't have an opinion until doing so. 3D gaming is awesome. IZ3D's monitor has dual display layers hidden/displayed using great glasses. Their drivers enable 3D for almost all DirectX 8 and 9 games.

Game makers don't have to make games with 3D built in, this company's driver and monitor combo will do it all for you. Want to play WoW in 3D? Install the driver, hook up the monitor, and bam. 3D. It looks GREAT.

Played Avatar in 3D, several MMOs, some FPSs, even some need for speed titles.

Gaming in 3D is EPIC. I've come to the conclusion that those who knock 3D really haven't experienced their favorite games in 3D (to prevent a closed mind before even getting started) or aren't using the proper equipment for proper 3D gaming.

Don't knock it as a gimmick. It's not. And it IS coming.
