Perhaps they'll start pushing laws to make co-habitating between hetrosexuals against the law, live with that woman and risk going to jail.We can then move onto bringing back laws against all forms of premarital sex.Like anything besides standard missionary position intercourse ? off to jail with you! While we're at it,let's recuit more social workers to sniff out and track down those perverted parents who enjoy alternate lifestyles like swinging and BSD and take their kids away from them.Let's close strip clubs and bring back adultry/perversions as grounds for divorce with the defendent losing the bulk of their assets should the grounds be proved.

When we endose and encourage the practice of denying/limiting the freedoms of others we shouldn't be too surprised when they get around to outlawing freedoms that we enjoy. You think religous minded folks like any of the above anymore than they like gays?

Is this a slope you're sure you want to go down ?

Lol, I tell you I cannot believe some of the things I've read and heard over the past few days, what kills me is that many proposing to amend the constitution to totally ban gay marriage are themselves enjoying lifestyles that just a couple decades ago could have cost them their jobs, custody of the children and other horrific consequences.

Don't you understand. Gays are deviant. Deviant. I'll just keep using the word deviant. Because the word deviant brings about unpleasant thoughts. Deviant. Gay deviant.

Overreaching is FUN, but you didn't take it far enough.

I bet we will have stringent laws based solely on morality during the Republican administration. Those who break them will be sent to prisons the size of entire cities such as NYC and LA. We will build giant walls around them and hope the president doesn't crash his plane in them. If so, we call on Snake Plisken to save the day.

That sounds just as plausible as your scenario.

It's too late Geekbabe, America has already chosen this path. Let's just hope people can see the damaging effects of a religious government so that we never turn to one again.

Religous groups are concerned with items that they feel are destructive to "family values" you're kidding yourself if you think legislation will end with totally outlawing gay marriage.

That's a truism! Let's see after same sex marriages are banned... Blue laws will last all day on Sunday and a nationwide ban on alchohol sales and consumption on Sunday and Wednesday. An automatic tithe will be taken out of your paycheck. Prayer will be required at the start of every school day. Rapists will be castrated. Women on welfare having children they cannot support will be steralized. Deadbeat dads will be steralized.

Everyone knows really religious missionaries don't engage in sexual intercourse because it's a sin. The true missionary position is a single handed maneuver. :p

When female missionaries engage in the practice, they call it Jilling off.

I want porn links too:(

Shut out by the cool kids again:(

Seriously though, the whole gay marriage thing is just sad. It's 2 consenting adults, if they want to be married, more power to them.

It wasn't on the ballot in Texas, but I would have voted to allow them.

Doubtful people would try to prove that two people living together that were the same sex are actually gay.

Same with trying to prove premarital sex happened. You're blowing this out of proportion and it's highly unlikely a single one of those things will happen.

The support for a gay marriage bans was there (obviously), but I don't think the support to win a vote on banning premarital sex is there. I don't think that's wrong anyhow and I'm a repub, heh.

1. Laws have to be based on morality - otherwise they are unjust. This doesn't mean that everything immoral should be criminal, since then everyone would be locked up. What about theft, racial hate and violence crimes, drug smuggling - how can you argue that these should be punished, unless they are immoral?
2. Whatever the law is, whether right or wrong, our responsibility is the same, to obey God. It is far more serious to be wrong about God than to have bad laws, and we should be concerned first with the former.

I was born out of wedlock in 1957, trust me when I say that things used to happen and could very easily happen again.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

You may choose to obey whatever deity you choose but you do not have the right to legally force anybody else to "obey God"

That is far to presumptuous a standard. It assumes the god you believe in is the only one, let alone that it exists, at all. You are welcome to your beliefs, but whatever they are, there are plenty of people whose idea of a deity, and what such a deity demands, and plenty more who don't accept the existence of any deity, at all.

The basic requirement for any law prohibiting any conduct should be whether any harm done by such conduct causes demonstrable harm. The basic presumption in the separation of church and state is that the government has no business legislating against "spiritual" harm and should limit such legislation to prohibiting conduct that causes demonstrable harm in the real world.

It's already begun!! I was just at the mall, and they were arresting females without headscarves and/or wearing skirts above the ankles. Women wearing pants were shot on sight, as they're obviously lesbians!!
