This is my first thread here.

I was wondering, with all the various shirts for Army, Marines, Etc., how do people feel about them being worn by non-military. Do you feel like they are trying to let people think they were in the military or is it just another way of supporting?

I am not in the military, however I am in Marine CorpsROTC and am in the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech. For the most part I don't really give a crap if they're wearing air force, army, or navy stuff, but if they're wearing marine corps stuff and they got this huge-ass fro and nasty looking, I admit that I get a little pissed.

If they're wearing real BDU's (camis) and then civie stuff, that kinda irks me too.

in my store, I usually only see parents wearing their kid's PT uniforms, like the short sleeve Army shirt, or the jogging pants issued during BCT. I think it's great when people wear them to show support. I always ask them if they're in the service anyways.

I used to wear a marine shirt all the time cause I supported them (lots of my friends went into the marines) but one dude got offended that I was never in the marines. I stopped wearing it after I had people ask me what company I was in and stuff like that and I had to explain to them I was not in the marines but respected them.

I don't like it when people wear things with "fashionable" colorful camouflage patterns or fake dogtags. I've less against military stuff worn by civilians (some of my colleagues use the shoes and shirts) but I don't do it.

I've a twofold relation to the army of my nation and strictly keep it separate from civil live. I don't get it why people wear camo and dogtag bling but I don't feel offended as member of the army.

as long as you have connection.. like say you have an "army of one" shirt, but maybe your brother/father/cousin is in the army, i'd be cool with that

You know, it's kinda funny, because I've always wondered what civilians thought us in the military, but I've never considered to think about what I thought of the civilians wearing the military unforms / related clothing.

So long as they aren't bringing discredit to the service by wearing it, I wouldn't have a problem in the least. But so help me if I find a shipmate or civilian that doesn't know how to wear their uniform, or is making it looks bad for some reason. I'll let them know what they mean by cussing like a sailor...
