After the current GOP implodes, what will emerge?

Something will change soon with all the bad press and corruption, I'm just wondering which faction will survive. Will there be a 3rd party?

Pre-emptive dismissal: We know Clinton got a BJ, stay on topic.

Nothing more satisfying than somebody claiming victory before the end of the game.

It's not a game and the only people that will win will be Republicans. But, ignore the OP, you normally have no real input.

Politics is a game.

Only reason for a 3rd party is because the democrats are even more out of touch with reality than the republicans.

I'd like to see a party that's a combination of the moderates from the implosion of both the Dems and Reps. Both sides need to shed their fringe lunatics before I could support either.

most likely we'll see the fiscal conservatives take over and the republican party will remain. there may be a popular splinter party like the bull moose party in 1912 and the dixiecrats in 54 or whenever, but it would die off before the next big election cycle, as they always have.

GOP imploding: I see no reason to believe that will be happening any time soon. By "soon" I'll venture to say between now and the 2008 Presidential election.

We might see some of the faces change in the next few months. However the GOP has been amazingly successful at promoting their cause. They've clearly found a way to tap into some key issues that are on the voters' minds.

Just because a couple of their folks are walking around with rainclouds over their heads don't assume a hurricane is a comin'.

Midterm elections will show what's happening. I think it's just a matter of time before things meltdown and suspect a clear signal will be sent next year.
