After submitting your resume...

RU482

I've submitted my resume for a couple of Jobs I found on Monster.com over the last month or so. (Insidious, if you read this, please keep it hush hush at work 😉 )

It seemed like I was well qualified for the positions (Electronics tech, 5 yrs experience), but I haven't really heard anything back from anyone, other than a few resume submission auto-reply e-mails. Is there a point in time that I should try to notify someone in H.R. at the companies to see if my resume is in consideration, or am I just screwed?

Any tips? thanks

Gotta wait like every1 else.

in today market have patients. Mostlikely they got your resume and alot of others people one. They may have decided to hire someone who they received resume before u, decided that u were over qualified, didn't like your resume or just decided not to hire anyone at this time.

Depending on where you applied to, call after a week to see if they had a chance to review it. That would be a great time to request an interview.

that's kinda what I was thinking of doing...I figure it can't hurt if you handle it professionally

Don't just sit on your butt and WAIT that someone will call you because the chance is extremely slim that anyone will call YOU !!!! This is the wrong attitude in this our very bad economy nowadays !!!!

While you sit and WAIT someone else maybe called THEM - and guess who got the job ?

Btw....i am amazed by your optimism that (as you say 'over the last month') you submitted resumes and are still expecting anyone to call ?????? Like after a month: "Hey !!! We were looking for you all the time...finally reached you...yeah....you got he job 🙂"

Sorry to be a bit cynical, but i am kinda in the same position and nothing really yielded in a job, besides the usual recruiter calls (which are now also much less than one/two years ago, and the obligatory 'member of citgroup BS")

Anyway keep submitting...but better call them and annoy the f*** out of them 'til you get a date for an interview...lol...i think this might be the only way 🙂

I would call them within 2-3 days. Sooo many people just send resumes and expect things to work themselves out, it doesn't work that way.

edit--at one of my previous jobs, we interviewed a marginal candidate. He showed a lot of persistence with follow up calls and ended up getting the job because that's the kind of attitude the prez was looking for.
