After SETI?

You think we'll find someone within that time period? 😉

Or do you have some insider information that says the project will be ending within the next two years? 😕
 
Fard - From the SETI web site it said the S@H project was to end this year...but they have decided to extend it for another year or two. Like you, I thought it was infinate, but it's not. 🙁
 
They also plan on having a "SETI II" where they will try to interface with a southern hemisphere radiotelescope to grab even more info from the sky! 🙂
 
SETI will only last as long as the money to fund it.

Who knows maybe they have already found aliens and the folding@home client is actually distributed computing assigned to decode their DNA secretly.


What??? It's a plausible conspiracy theory 🙂
 
Hehe, vss1980, another thread we seem to be agreeing on! 😀 I like it.. in fact, I think I'll subscribe to that conspiracy theory! Now that there's two of us believing it, do we need to start some kind of group or something or just promote both projects? 🙂

Although folding@home has merit, unfortuntely from what I have heard, its clients and the way it operates doesn't.

I have mixed thoughts on SETI. Its a good project, but its a looooooooong shot. That hurts it a little.

But hey, your CPU cycles are going wasted anyway so wasting them with any project you like doesn't bother me.

Ever since the 1990s the SETI screensaver has just sat there on a million Web screens, chewing cosmic noise, waiting for some kind of, I dunno, "message." It's never found a damn thing out there. But I'm not ashamed to confess that I have a kind of faith in it. Once we get that big "buy" signal from the sky, we're just bound to have a major turnaround."

CTho9305, AnandTech has many projects going already. OGR, Rc5, gamma flux, S@H & even a f@h team. So it won't be hard to find another project. Many of us seti guys & gals will probably run the SetiII project.🙂
 
After SETI I'm sure that there will be another one.
As of now, that is what I plan on doing.
I want to find ETI if it is there.
 
I will do SETI in whatever version for as long as it exists ,& if they stop then I might switch to the realtime SETI project run by voulunteers around the world.Now if only I could remember the name!😱
