Hi,
My E8400 stock at 3.0Ghz,
the "WELCOME" loading screen of xp takes around 2 seconds then it will pop up the desktop,
after overclocking to 3.6Ghz (400x9) the "WELCOME" loading screen takes more tan 2 minutes to load. no matter now i swtich back to 3.0Ghz, it still takes 2 minutes.

What happenend? does overclocking mess up the registry or what?

the 3dMark06 does give me a 200point more (52xx to 5470)
Doesn't see real life boost in games or what so ever though

Yes, running/testing overclocking, before you test it out to be stable, can corrupt your windows. It's best to do a test install of windows (un-overclocked), test out your components, then overclock/test, and then finally when you've reached your max acceptable overclock, then re-install windows.

oh , i have to re-install windows?

i am just too lazy to test it.
I have put it at 3.6Ghz, then leave it there with stock cooling.
I am actually about to get a better HSF. however, there are just too many choices.
But for my range around $35. i still haven't make up my mine yet. (i got a nice silent 120mm fan myself)
