After new fan installation

Just got my new fan today (it's a Noctua NF-B9) and installed it in the front of the pc to blow air into the unit. After playing about four games of BF4, I've notice that the GPU temperature went down by 5-6 c and it's fan speed went down by 10-14%. That's a high of 81 c at 60% fan speed vs 86 c at 70% fan speed.

I also notice the fps went up. I saw it up over 190 fps on Ultra settings. 🙂
Oh yeah, it's an i5 4440 with an Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC at 1920x1080p.

With open air coolers, case cooling plays a very large part in GPU temps. Your CPU temp can even go up if you don't get rid of all that heat.

Good to see your temps go down. What case do you have?

What good is 190 fps? Your monitor will likely refresh only 60 times a second, unless it's a gaming-oriented 120hz or 144hz monitor. With a 60hz monitor, any fps above 60 is just going to cause tearing.

I has an Asus M51ad Us002s

It's just a Samsung 1920x1080p 120 hz TV.

Hey, I'm sure you were pretty happy about the improvement and wanted to shout it out to the world.

I say congratulations to ya.

Just don't expect many folks to say that around here and especially in the video card section-- they're all jaded and rough and quick to lambaste anyone.

Congrats. It's actually surprising how much difference good fans can make. I bought a dozen Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm fans when I found them on clearance for $12 each - should have bought all 50 of them in stock. Not only are they great on radiators and as case fans, they are reasonably quiet at ~1400 rpm.

CRV - glad the fan additions we discussed have led to the improvement we expected. I think you have made good choices in maximizing the performance you can get out of your current system. Enjoy the smoothness!

Take it easy chump. 😀
I'm still new to this.

lol great response that guy was being bit harsh.

And glad you got it worked out the amount of fans and quality of the fans are very important in cases alot of people overlook that.
