After much thought, I now think Curling is the greatest Olympic sport, ever.

How is it not a sport?


1. You have never fucking done it. So don't criticize it.

2. You probably don't know half of the rules. So again, dont criticize something you know next to nothing about.

3. It's just as much a sport as Archery, NASCAR, Golf, Bowling or Ping Pong.


Sure, its not all physical. Sure, you don't need superb hand eye coordination. Yep, you don't have to have amazing coordination. But you do need a bit of everything. Its just as much a sport as the ones I mentioned above.


On top of that, its a great sport. A ton of strategy and clutch performance required. I thoroughly enjoy watching it.

A lot of things in life are difficult. The fact that they are difficult does not qualify them as an olympic event.

That's entirely untrue. Just for the sake of proving you wrong. The sweepers require agility to dodge the stones as they sweep, as well as endurance to sweep aggressively for 60+ minutes. Finally, hand eye coordination is required to sweep in the right location, while staying ahead of the rock moving across the ice. Oh keep in mind, this is all on ice.


Now we can sit here and argue about how much athletic ability is required to constitute a sport, but to simply say it requires 'precisely 0 athletic ability' is quite simply a stupid fucking statement.

How much agility do you think you'd need to dodge a ball? How about a curling thingy traveling at ludicrous speed? (How fast do those things travel anyway? Must have spider sense to dodge those things...)

What I don't understand is all the vehement curling defenders. They get so offended when you make fun of the stupid game. Why are you so defensive of it, I doubt anyone here has played it.

That being said, it's the only event I've watched so far in the olympics, just for LOL's

If you can compete in your event while being 5 1/2 months pregnant, like the canadian, then your event is NOT a sport.

And I can't even take this "sweep aggressively for 60 minutes" seriously. Sweep aggressively? Are you fucking kidding?

Hey, "sweeping aggressively for 60 minutes" is one of the hardest skills to teach a woman. Right between, "fixing ham sandwiches aggressively for 60 minutes" and "doing laundry aggressively for 60 minutes."
