After Market Stereo Question + Pics of JA!

Ameesh

Lifer
Hey guys,

I am in the market for a new stero and will be purchasing it in the end of july beging of august so i want to start doing research now.

I am looking to spend $5K max including installation and tax

What Navi/mp3/dvd changer system would you be looking at and speakers

Any good places for reviews like this?

Thanks,
Ameesh

since this thread keeps falling i thought i would add some pics to help keep it alive

big pic, watch out for autoshrinking, drag and drop

I think currently Pioneer is the only company that makes an in-dash navi system that's self contained.

EDIT: Meaning that other setups require seperate screens and/or black boxes to make the system work.

seperate screen is ok, but i did see a kenwood model that does that hidden screen thing too, i wonder how fragile it is.

IMHO they're not going to break unless you abuse it. Some models just have a motorized retract. Others have a motorized flip as well. I suppose the ones with just a motorized retract would be more durable.

404 pics not found.

check out pioneer and alpine and eclipse for decks, not sure who all makes navi decks.

speakers: how much?? CDT makes nice components, adire makes Koda components which are supposed to be GOD. RE (respl.com) is coming out with a XXX component set, but it will set you back a bit, be loud as hell and supposed to sound nice.

AMP: tru technologies, brax, PPI, helix, U.S. amps, a lot of good amp manufacturer.

sub:??? you want one?

MIKE

I came in for the pics, I'm bumping because it was good, and I'm leaving because I know nothing about this subject.

404 not found on the pics. I would go with the pioneer or alpine. Friend of mine has an alpine dvd player. The screen is "hide a way", motorized flip up. Its nice for security purposes and not at all fragile.

it does but i want to get aftermarket because it seems like the stero and speakers i will buy are higher quality

You want a sub(s)?

I'm assuming that's a 2004 Armada?

Crap... I can't find the size of the speakers used in the Armada...
