First I tried what I used to with win98
instert startup disk, go to dos and install there.
but since I didn't have xp start disk I used win98 disk.
xp did not work in dos.
so I installed win98 then ran the xp cd in win98
I did full install, not upgrade
and it ended up installing it on other hd driver instead of over writing win98.
now i have two os

is there a startup disk like win98 so I can install from dos? so i don't have to install win98 to run xp cd?

The XP CD should be bootable - you will need to change the boot order in your BIOS to boot from the CD first.

Yup, I boot it from CD and delete FAT32 partition created by win98. Then I installed it with NTSF which was supposed to be faster and securer than FAT32
