I left my Nexus S overseas (FML), so I had to come back to this phone.
Thankfully I kept up to date with Milestone development (somewhat), so I had an updated CM6 on it. I know CM7 has been long out but previously when I used it, GB is unusable on a 256MB RAM device. You may think it is, but once you move to a 512mb device, you'll never come back. Thankfully, some people over last summer compiled an updated CM6 with Gingerbread features, and even keep updating it with the last update in December.
I kept somewhat updated so I put my SIM card in my Milestone/Droid and it was good to go.
Few things:
1) 3.7" screen is pathetic. With the 854x480 resolution Moto used its less wide than my iPod Touch. I CANNOT type on this phone after coming from a 4" device. As well as I can type on my iPod Touch which is a 3.5" screen, I CANNOT type on this Milestone AT ALL. While I dealt with this problem before, the problem is magnified given that I've been spoiled by a larger screen.
2) I like the IPS color reproduction. My 2 friends were showing off their Galaxy Nexus phones, but the screen was so bluish. I'm pretty sure my calibrated Nexus S would look nicer. The only advantage is high PPI I suppose.
3) My original complaints about a slow device stand. Even at 1.1ghz this device is very unusable. 256mb device is pathetic. I spend 2 minutes loading Google Maps everytime. Last Friday I forgot to write down the cross street of some restaurant before leaving home, and usually I have no problem mapping on my Nexus S. I spent 2 minutes in the rain trying to load Maps before I pulled my battery and did a reboot. The device is marginally usable after boot but after a day the memory is overloaded.
I'm so frustrated I cannot wait 2 more weeks to get my Nexus S back. Fuck it. Expansys just shipped my SGS2 despite my half ass attempts to cancel the impulse buy. LOL.
