The title says it all. I flashed the BIOS of my MSI K7D Master motherboard (AMD 760MP chipset) to version 1.5 this morning, and afterwards the board would no longer work correctly when I have a 256 MB Kingston PC2100 ECC REG DDR stick with Samsung chips installed. POST will not detect the RAM, memtest86 skips over it, and Linux segfaults during boot. Sometimes the system won't even POST. However, with that module removed the system runs fine. Note that this worked fine before the flash. Is the new BIOS somehow incompatible with this memory?

Everyone loves specs:

MSI K7D Master motherboard
Dual Athlon MP 1200 CPUs
2x 512MB Crucial PC2100 ECC REG, 1x 256MB Crucial PC2100 ECC REG, 1x 256MB Kingston PC2100 ECC REG
Gainward GeForce3 video card
USB 1.1 PCI card
Realtek 8139-based ethernet card
Yamaha YMF724-based sound card
WD 40GB hard drive
Plextor 12/10/32A CD-RW

I can't really answer your memory question, but i can tell you i've had nothing but bad luck with msi k7d masters. I ordered one before christmas, and it worked fine at 100mhz with athlon mp 2200's but when i set the bus to 133 it fried one of my athlons, needless to say i wasn't happy. Then i got a replacement board(which was an older revision than the one i previously had, it fried my other athlon which had worked fine in another motherboard right before that. So i may be a little biased but i would have to say these boards are pieces of crap, and im out ~$500 worth of athlon mp's. Anyways, ive read that you can only use unbuffered ddr in dimm 1 and 2 on that board, 3 and 4 require buffered ecc, is your 236 stick buffered or not? Thats all i can think of, let me know if i was any help:p
