After extensive Warcraft 3 playing, what's next...any suggestions

I've been playing Warcraft 3 for the last 6 months or so. I need to move on. Except for a brief timeout to play Unreal 2 and UT 2003 I kind of want to get into another great RTS game. I'd like great graphics, good game play...that sort of thing. I know Starcraft is supposed to be good, but I'm not sure I can tolerate the graphics. Anyway, I want to go and buy something in about 3 hours. Diablo II is already in my past.

You could give yourself a few months free from game addiction and read some books, learn a new skill, spend more time going out on the town (ideally with a significant other)...

What am I saying!?! :Q

I second Freelancer, although if you want a well balanced Multiplayer RTS, CnC Generals looks like your match. Single player won't occupy you for months (it's short and nondescript).

You sure you can resist the mythical 1.10 D2 patch with the temporarily untwinkable 'ladder characters'? 😛

i would suggest command and conquer: red alert 2. i know it is older, but i really think that it is better than generals. just my preference. it is probably cheaper too.

Another vote for master of orion 3....but be aware..this game is like no other....not even orion2 ...To my knowledge.it's the first game that ask you to be good at MACROMANAGING....quite..fun.
Oh...C&C generals is lot of fun...really great game online.
